Owning an Anthony’s Pizza & Pasta
The following information and application will answer basic questions
and get you started on your road to opening an Anthony’s.
Anthony’s Story: simple beginning, slow growth, big success
Anthony’s Pizza has its humble beginnings in a small storefront location in downtown Denver, just off the 16th Street Mall, when in 1984 Henry Mann started serving the lunchtime crowd New York style pizza by the slice. The original Anthony’s is still there, and still a favorite among lunchtime diners and the many new residents that now occupy the lofts and condos in and near downtown.
Anthony’s has since grown slowly to serve fresh-cooked pastas and salads, but still retain an intimate, casual and family atmosphere. Today, each of Anthony’s Colorado restaurants follows a successful format, but is individually operated. Anthony’s philosophy is simple: provide customers the freshest, best quality meal and they’ll come back again.
What makes Anthony’s Pizza & Pasta a good franchise opportunity?
Anthony’s offers a product you can be proud to serve. Anthony’s award-winning pizza is a popular favorite among Denver area diners looking for quality and convenience. We provide our customers with the best, freshest quality ingredients. We use the best mozzarella available. Our dough is made fresh daily. Our toppings are cut and prepared daily. Anthony’s Pizza & Pasta offers its franchisees collective buying power, which helps keep costs down on food and paper products, and allows you to offer the best ingredients—which is what matters most to your customers.
Help for franchisees
At Anthony’s Pizza & Pasta, we want you to succeed. We offer franchisees excellent training, training on the art of pizza-making, business training, tips on employee scheduling, mentoring from Anthony’s experts. There is no additional cost; it is included in your franchise fee.
Naturally, to be a successful restaurant owner, it is helpful to have restaurant and business experience. But it is not a requirement to be an Anthony’s Pizza & Pasta franchisee.
Anthony’s Pizza & Pasta cannot predict or discuss profits for any given location. However, you can learn from the experiences of other Anthony’s franchisees by talking to them directly. We encourage you to speak to existing franchisees when doing your research regarding profit potential and other key questions. We can help put you in touch with franchisees.
Franchise and advertising fees
Start-up costs for Anthony’s Pizza & Pasta are low by comparison to other franchises. We offer a proven track record, yet the franchise fee is low, royalty payments are low, and costs to open the restaurant doors are reasonable for a product of this caliber.
Anthony’s does not offer financing, but can assist you with resources.
Anthony’s franchisees are not burdened with high advertising costs. Regional co-op fees of up to 2% of gross are modest but adequate. In addition, up to 2% of gross on local advertising helps bring business through your door.
Regional advertising fees will be used for such things as creation, production and placement of advertising, public relations, market research and other outreach efforts. Your advertising dollars are not spent soliciting new franchisees.

Once I sign a Franchise Agreement, how long before I can open?
You have 90 days to find an approved location. And you have another 90 days (a total of 180 days) to open your restaurant once the Franchise Agreement is signed. If it takes longer to find the right location, an extension can be granted.
Steps to becoming a franchisee
Download the Franchise Application (acrobat format) and fill it out. Mail it to Anthony’s Pizza & Pasta International at the address on the bottom of the form.
Anthony’s Pizza & Pasta International will review the application and determine whether you are qualified. If so, you will receive a Uniform Franchise Offering Circular (UFOC), and you will be contacted to schedule a face-to-face interview.
Review the UFOC. It contains information about the franchise offer and agreement terms. At the meeting, we will discuss such things as the Anthony’s system, your qualifications and expectations, available locations and timetables for opening an Anthony’s.
If both parties wish to proceed, you will complete the screening process and be notified of final approval.
Once final approval is granted, and after a minimum of 10 business days after delivery of the UFOC, a Franchise Agreement can be executed along with Development Agreement fees.
Prior to opening of your store, you will go through Anthony’s Pizza & Pasta training.
You hire and train staff, schedule an opening, secure proper inspections and open for business.
